The structure includes a device(21) with a crash sensor designed so that struts(11,12) occupy their second positions, in which their outer ends bear upon the surfaces of the door posts(5,6), only for a short time during crash conditioned stressing of the door region. The facing ends of the struts are pivot-connected by two links(17,18), and the device engages the links so that they pivot into positions only for movement of the struts into their second positions and in which they align co-axially with the struts to form a rigid support.
