PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the portable telephone set where power consumption is reduced and a standby time is extended by stopping the operation of a reception section at the outside of a service area zone so as to detect the presence of a radio wave in all reception bands separately. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set is provided with a radio wave detection means 2, 3, 7, 8 in full reception bands consisting of a changeover section 3 that switches a reception signal from a low noise amplifier section 2 with a control signal from a control discrimination section 7, an amplifier detection section 8 that amplifies the switched signal to detect its signal level, and a control discrimination section 7 that discriminates the detection result of the signal level to control the changeover of the changeover section, and the operation of the reception section other than a low noise amplifier section or the like is stopped by allowing the radio wave detection means in a full reception band other than the reception section to detect presence of a radio wave in the full reception band when the portable telephone set is at the outside of a service area zone. |
