PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink cartridge containing ink in a cartridge body having a port opened to the atmosphere in which the deaeration quality of ink in the cartridge can be sustained for a long term by sealing the port opened to the atmosphere with a sealing member exhibiting a specified oxygen permeability. SOLUTION: An ink cartridge 7 mounted on a carriage unit has a cartridge body 41 containing an ink absorber. An upper cover member 44 has port 47 opened to the atmosphere which is sealed by pasting a filmy sealing member 55 having oxygen permeability of 100 ml/m<2> or above to the upper cover member 44. The ink cartridge 7 is packaged by a packaging member while reducing the pressure prior to loading and deaeration of ink is enhanced even if gas is dissolved into the ink at the time of filling ink by discharging the air in the ink through the sealing member 55 into a space defined by the packaging member on the outside of the high vacuum cartridge body 41. |
