PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform digital communication utilizing only DTMF signals by constituting a terminal of the function of replacing digital data with the DTMF signals and sending them out to a telephone line network, and a function of receiving the DTMF signals through the telephone line network and replacing them with the digital data. SOLUTION: Two hundred fifty-five kinds of digital data inputted from a connected or incorporated keyboard 1, magnetic card reader 2 or bar code pen 3 or the like are replaced with the combination of DTMF signals and sent out to the network of a telephone line 6. Meanwhile, on the side of receiving the DTMF signals, the DTMF signals are digitized and simultaneously restored to the original digital data from the combination of the DTMF signals. Combination method of the DTMF signals is decided by respective systems by taking security consideration. Thus, in electronic account settlement or the like for performing transmission and reception processing's of funds between a financial institution or the organization of a membership system and individual, simple, accurate and quick data transmission and reception are made possible.
