Covering selected surface regions of work piece, especially automotive part, with textile material

The surface of a work piece is selectively flocked using a moving piece of machinery that first of all applies an adhesive coating and then deposits flock fibres onto it. The textile covering is used as a friction coating during movement of the work piece (2) relative to a surface on which the piece is mounted. Application of the covering is done by guiding a device over the surface of the work piece, the device including a working part (15) with sections for initially depositing an adhesive coating and then applying fibres to the coating. The device is moved according to a pattern corresponding to that of the covering. An Independent claim is also included for the machine used to apply the covering.
