FIELD: oil and gas production industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to checking and measuring of parameters in process of drilling bore-holes for oil and gas. According to method, calculated at starting moment of drilling are positive alpha<SB>1</SB> and negative alpha<SB>2</SB> changes in variations on axial thrust on bit and their values are assumed as criterion of optimality. Optimal axial thrust on bit in process of drilling is maintained by retaining current values of positive and negative alpha<CHF>cur@1,2</CHF> changes in variation of axial thrust within corresponding <EMI ID=0.379 HE=9 WI=18 TI=CHI> and <EMI ID=0.380 HE=9 WI=18 TI=CHI>.
