PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate excessive transmission delay that occurs due to the application of an optical fiber amplifier and to reduce network latency. SOLUTION: Rare earth element addition optical fiber 1900 which is used as a gain medium of an optical fiber amplifier is arranged not inside an optical receiver but between the optical receiver and a light switch device and is used as a gain medium and also a signal transmission path. In a multiprocessor and a computer system which are interconnected by the light switch device, distribution between the light switch device and an optical transmitter and the optical receiver is performed by rare earth element doped optical fiber that is a gain medium in order to eliminate excessive transmission delay that is generated due to the application of the optical fiber amplifier to the optical receiver. An excitation light source and an optical filter for excitation light elimination which constitute the optical fiber amplifier are distributed and arranged to the light switch device and the optical transmitter and the optical receiver. |
