1,100,864. Change-speed control. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. 27, July, 1965 [1 Aug., 1964], No. 32039/65. Heading F2D. A vehicle automatic gear shift mechanism controlled as a function of road speed or gearbox output speed comprises two A.C. generators 1, 2 having permanent magnet rotors or a common such rotor in driving connection with the gearbox output shaft, and connected in parallel via transformers 3, 4 and rectifiers 5, 6 to the control means whereby the generators together deliver sufficient power to effect gear shifts but in the event of failure of one generator, the output of the other is sufficient only to maintain the gear-box in the engaged gear. The generators are in the same housing with two magnets on a driven shaft associated with separate windings, Fig. 3, not shown, or a single magnet may extend across the two windings, Fig. 5, not shown. |
