摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small-sized low cost filter device having a high purification capacity and high temp. durability by using one or more kinds of an extrafine glass fiber having a diameter in a specified range in the filter device for capturing a material to be captured on the surface of the filter composed of the glass fiber. SOLUTION: A diesel particulate filter is constituted of one or more kind of extrafine glass fiber 1 having 1-50μdiameter. As the extrafine glass fiber, an extrafine glass fiber formed into one or more kinds of structural bodies selected from a group of bundle like, meshlike, cloth like and the like form and preferably having >=700 deg.C softening point is used. And relating to the filter device, a photocatalyst is formed on a part of or full surface of the extrafine glass fiber 1, light is supplied to the photocatalyst from the one end of the extrafine glass fiber 1 through the inside of the extrafine glass fiber 1 to cause photocatalytic action and then the material to be captured, which is stuck to the extrafine glass fiber 1, is decomposed and removed.</p>
