PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column tilt holding force adjusting mechanism capable of being adjusted in a stepless manner. SOLUTION: This adjusting mechanism is so constituted that a tilt lever is threadedly engaged with one end part of a tilt bolt 20 penetrated through movable a distance bracket 32 in a slot 36 formed in both the side walls of an upper clamp 34 to be fixed to a car body, and in the inside of the upper crank 34, and a retaining member is engaged with the other end. In this case, the retaining part is formed into a tilt bolt stopper 25 where a washer part 27 engaged with the brim part of the tilt bolt 20 with play is integrated with an engaging part 28 to be engaged with the distance bracket 32 or the slot 36, and concurrently, a screw part is formed at the other end of the tilt bolt 20, and the tilt bolt stopper 25 is fastened so as to be fixed by a stopper fixing nut 24 forcing the brim part 23 to be threadedly engaged with the screw part. |
