摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a sintered barium titanate having a dense texture at a relatively low sintering temperature by sintering a specific barium titanate raw material powder under specific conditions. SOLUTION: A powdery raw material of barium titanate having a Ba/Ti molar ratio of 1.01-1.08 is produced by dissolving a barium alkoxide and a titanium alkoxide in an organic solvent to obtain a mixed alkoxide solution having a concentration of 0.1-3mol/kg and adding water to the solution in an amount corresponding to 2-50 times the theoretical equivalent necessary for the hydrolysis reaction or mixing an aqueous solution of barium hydroxide having a barium concentration of 0.1-3mol/kg with an organic solvent solution of a titanium alkoxide having a concentration of 0.1-3mol/kg and drying the precipitate produced by the hydrolysis at 40-100 deg.C. The objective sintered barium titanate having a bulk density of >=5.71g/cm<3> is produced by calcining the above raw material powder at 300-900 deg.C, forming the calcination product, heating the formed article to 950-1100 deg.C at a heating rate of 0.1-50 deg.C/min and sintering at the temperature for 1-20hr.
