Poly:siloxane(s) having improved compatibility with polar media, used in e.g. cosmetics, dyes or lacquers

Polysiloxanes of formula (I) and organosilanes of formula R<8>3-m(R<8>O)mSiR<2> (II), both containing 2-oxazolidinone groups, are new:R<1> = 1-4C alkyl or phenyl ; R<2> = R<1> or a group of formula (i) or (ii) ; R<3> = 1-20C alkylene ; R<4> = 1-4C alkylene ; R<5> = H or 1-8C alkyl ; R<6> = H or 1-4C alkyl, or it may be an alkylene group which combines with R<3> to form a ring ; R<8> = 1-4C alkyl ; m = 0-3 ; n = 0-20 ; a = 0-1000 ; and b = 0-10, with the proviso that at least 90 % of R<1> are methyl groups.
