The detection of an abnormal measured couple of an electronic fuel injection internal combustion engine of an automobile. The couple can be calculated from the instantaneous speed of the engines crankshaft. The method includes the following stages: - definition of the noise criteria (CBt) of the gas couple produced by each combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinders quantifying the gas couple noise, by filtering after each combustion; - comparison after each combustion, of this noise criteria (CBt) to a determined step (Smr), with detection of an abnormal disturbance when the criteria is greater than the step.
