PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form plural regions varying in the orientation direction of liquid crystal molecules from each other within respective pixels without using a resist. SOLUTION: Electrodes 2 for forming electrodeposition layers are provided with line-like regions 2c lower in surface conductivity than the other regions in the respective pixels. When the electrodeposition layers are formed thereon, slopes having the lowest parts are formed on the line-like regions 2c. The liquid crystal molecules are oriented along these slopes and the liquid crystal regions varying in the orientation direction of the liquid crystal molecules are formed on both sides of the line-like regions 2c.
