According to the invention, a test body (1) is knocked against a material in the rebound test. For the duration of the impact, the time sequence of at least one of the three movement variables, acceleration, speed or path, is measured by a sensor (3). By integration and/or differentiation, a force which is characteristic of the deformation process and a deformation path brought about by this force, and/or a deformation speed is/are determined from the measured movement variables. This method enables material- and test-specific characteristics, such as modulus of elasticity, apparent limit of elasticity and hardening behaviour, to be determined rapidly and accurately. |
