Ringing tone melody generating method for telecommunication terminal

The method involves allocating predetermined control signals to predetermined keys on a keypad of a telecommunications terminal. The signals each correspond to a respective tone property of an individual tone or multiple tone or a pause interval. The telecommunication terminal has a key field (70), a programmable control unit (40), at least one memory (50), a tone generator (60) and an internal electroacoustic convertor (100). When the programming mode of the terminal is activated a control signal train representing a desired call tone melody is input by actuation of the corresponding keys and is then stored. When a call is detected by the terminal, the stored signal train is translated into the desired tune and is output via an electroacoustic convertor.
