PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate assembling work for a steering column and to minimize an influence caused by the movement of the forward end of the steering column in tilting. SOLUTION: A pivoting means 11 for pivoting the forward end of a tilt type steering column 6 on a dash board lower member 3 in such a manner as to oscillate comprises a partially spherical recessed part 12 formed on the dash board lower member 3, a partially spherical bush 13 which is supported on the steering column 6 in such a manner as to freely slide and fitted in the recessed part 12, and a spring 16 for energizing a bush 13 toward the recessed part 12. Assembling of the steering column 6 can be accomplished only by inserting the forward end of the steering column 6 in the recessed part 12 and fitting the bush 13 to the recessed part 12, so that troublesome bolt fastening work is not needed. |
