At the end opposite to the handle (4) the post (1) slides in an enclosing guide (2). It is lockable in position in the guide, which is secured by fixing devices (8) to one side of the bed. In addition to the handle (4) extending towards the bed area, there can be one or two more (5,6) parallel to the bed side. A locking screw for the post can be provided in the guide, while the post itself is supported at variable height at its bottom end.
