The invention concerns a crystalline (Z)-11 beta -[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-17 beta -hydroxy-17 alpha -(3-hydroxy-1-propenyl)estr-4-ene-3-one (compound I) in the form of the an-solvate. The crystalline an-solvate of compound I is prepared by heating a crystallizate of compound I in water in order to remove the solvent of crystallization, the crystallizate being obtained from a solution in an organic solvent.
