The protective connection box is mounted on the pylon that carries the cables incorporating the optical fibres. The box (1) has its walls formed of a material that is resistant to mechanical shocks. The box houses a sealed enclosure (2) for the connections to the optical fibre, and a clamp (41,42,43) fixed to the box to retain the cable (400) incorporating the optical fibre. The clamp absorbs the tension due to the weight of the suspended cable. A damping material (8) is placed between the wall of the box and the sealed enclosure. The box is formed from sheet steel, with the space for the sealed enclosure at the top and the clamp at the bottom. Two vertical plates provide mounting for the hinges of the door of the box on one hand and a fixing to the pylon on the other hand.
