The jacketted radiant heating tube (7) has a jacket tube enclosing a flame tube, both tubes being made of carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide (CSiC) and being ceramically bonded together. Pref. the flame tube and the jacket tube are silicided together with interposed spacers of CSiC. Alternatively, the radiant heating tube has a pref. machined CSiC, tubular body (7) which has axial channels (9) in its wall and which is connected, at one end, by its hollow interior (8) to a burner and by its channels (9) to an exhaust outlet, the other end having a chamber (10) connecting the interior (8) with the channels (9).
