When an external force is exerted on sections (4) of the container (1), these open and shut within the time taken for it to travel for a distance equal to the interval between successive containers fixed to the conveyor. The forces can be exerted on only one half of the container, which in turn actuates the other half. The opening force can be applied to one half and the shutting one to the other, and typically by guides also holding the halves open and shut for the desired times. The halves can hinge on horizontal or vertical axes (6,9).
