PURPOSE:To stably maintain the performance of an optical recording medium over a long period of time by providing microcapsules consisting of a liquid crystal which is changed in structure by light and is changed in phase transition temp. by a structural change as a nucleic material to a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An emulsified liquid is obtd. by stirring 2pts. 4-cyano-4'- methoxyazobenzene, 2pts. hexamethylene diisocyanate, 2pts. ethyl acetate, 0.5pt. dodecyl sodium sulfate, and 93.5pts. water for 5min at 10,000rpm by a homogenizer. The microcapsules consisting of the 4-cyano-4'-methoxyazobenzene as the nucleus are obtd. by dropping a soln. consisting of 0.5pt. diethylene triamine and 60pts. water to this emulsified liquid and heating the soln. mixture to 70 deg.. The microcapsules which are classified to 0.1-0.5mum diameter are applied with polyvinyl alcohol as a binder on a glass plate to 2mum thickness, by which the optical recording medium is obtd. The phase transition between the liquid layer and the liquid crystal layer is thereby assured and the performance of the optical recording medium is stably maintained over a long period of time. |
