The invention relates to a method for the production of a new type of metal section. In the new method, a groove is first made in a section flange (6) by structurally-changing deformation, a second section flange (2) is subsequently inserted into the groove and the material (12) at the side of the groove in the first section flange is displaced by pressure to such an extent against the side walls of the inserted section flange (2) that there is at least frictional connection between the two section flanges (2, 6) at the point of contact. Metal sections of virtually any geometry and of any raw material can be produced economically using this method of structurally-changing fastening, and are comparable in strength with metal sections which have previously been produced in the known manner.
