PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code pattern being an invisible code pattern utilizing infrared rays incapable of being discriminated by the naked eye, not limited by the printing condition of an infrared absorbing material or an infrared absorbing layer and possible to rewrite. SOLUTION: A thermal reversible recording medium 1 is constituted of at least a base material 2, an infrared absorbing layer 3 and a thermal reversible recording layer 4. Recording and printing matter is constituted of at least the base material 2, the infrared absorbing layer 3, the thermal reversible recording layer 4 and an infrared permeable printing layer. A recording method forms a data pattern by heating the above-mentioned thermal reversible recording medium 1 or the thermal reversible recording layer 4 of the printing matter. In data recording, the above-mentioned thermal reversible recording medium or the thermal reversible recording layer of the printing matter has an infrared permeable pattern or an infrared reflecting pattern and data is recorded as the above-mentioned pattern.
