PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover the energy of an engine, and cut the consumption of electric power by isolating an air passage to a compressor in a turbo charger, concurrently, supplying electric power to an a.c machine, and operating it as an electric motor when the partial loading of the engine is detected. SOLUTION: Exhaust gas from an engine 1 is fed to a turbine 8 so as to allow the turbine to be rotated. As a result, a compressor 7 and a motor generator 4 are rotated, generated electric power is converted into DC electric power by an inverter 5, and a battery is thereby charged. In this case, since a valve 9 is opened, and a valve 10 is closed, intake air is super-charged by the compressor 7, and fed to the engine 1 through an intercooler 3. When the turbine 8 is lowered in rotation, three phase AC electric power is supplied to the motor generator 4 from the battery through the inverter 5, the motor generator is electrically operated, and the compressor 7 is thereby rotated. And when the engine 1 is partially loaded, after the valve 10 has been opened, the valve 9 is closed, super charging by the compressor 7 is thereby suspended. |
