PURPOSE: To extract an area in real time by determining a processing start point and moving a node on the prolongation of the straight line connecting the node and processing start point. CONSTITUTION: A feature point detecting circuit 11 detects a feature point from an input signal. A feature point distance calculating means 12 calculates the potential prescribed unequivocally by the distance to each feature point other than the feature point. An initial point detecting circuit 13 determines the processing start point corresponding to the potential at the point. In an expansion node initialization step, plural nodes are generated on the basis of the processing start point. Further, a circle expansion calculating circuit 14 moves the nodes on the prolongation of the straight line connecting the nodes and processing start points. An area processing circuit 16 extracts a closed area encircled with the nodes after the movement. Thus, the processing start point is determined corresponding to the potential at the point and on the basis of the processing start point, the nodes are generated and moved on the prolongation of the straight line connecting the nodes and processing start point, so that the closed area encircled with the nodes after the movement is extracted. |
