The carrier has two hinged arms (3) at the rear to support the number plate and the rear lights when the arms are in their unfolded position. The hinge is on the central axis of the carrier attached to a bar (4) that runs along the central axis. The bar slides into the end of the towing bar (5), where it is fixed by a bolt or pin. The hinged arms fold along the bar (4) for storage. When unfolded a telescopic extension (12) at the end of both arms can be drawn out to attach the end of the arm to the side rail (1) of the trailer chassis. A hole at the end of the extension fits over a stud (14) at the end of the chassis side rail, and can be fixed in place with a pin passing through the end of the stud.
