PURPOSE: To obtain a very useful vascular graft for not only a large blood vessel but also a small blood vessel as an ideal vascular graft by preparing a tubular body consisting of a mixture of an ultrafine powder of hydroxyapatite and an elastomer. CONSTITUTION: A vascular graft is a tubular body consisting of a mixture of an ultrafine power of hydroxyapatite and an elastomer. As this elastomer has viscoelasticity and is rich in elastic deformation, when particles are kneaded therein, dropping out and becoming free of the particles are inevitable and there exists therefore a possibility that a phagocytosis is brought about by phagocyte in a living body and an inflammatory reaction is generated. On the other hand, as the ultrafine particles of hydroxyapatite are extremely fine and not only they are taken easily by the phagocyte but also they are easily dissolved under an acidic environment in the phagocyte and furthermore, they have an action to neutralize the acidic environment in the surrounding texture, even if there exist dropping out and becoming free of the ultrafine particles of hydroxyapatite, they exhibit a characteristic of restoring the inflammation within a extremely short period. |
