PURPOSE: To constitute a paper width detecting device, provided as a device control information acquiring means at the image forming device of a copying machine, a laser printer, or the like, at a low cost so as to attain cost reduction. CONSTITUTION: In a paper width detecting device formed of a sensor 1 and an actuator 3 set to act when the length (paper width) in a right-angled direction to the conveyed direction of sheets PA, PB conveyed in a conveying path is the specified length or more, the sensor 1 of a jam detecting device A for detecting the presence of paper sheets conveyed in the conveying path so as to be used to detect a jam, and the sensor 1 of the paper width detecting device are used in common. |
