<p>The invention relates to a device for gripping objects, preferably elongate objects, for example trees, and causing the gripped objects to rotate about a horizontal axis, comprising gripper means for gripping the objects which are to be rotated, rotational drive means for driving the gripper means in rotation about the horizontal axis, and a brake, which is connected to the gripper means, for decelerating the rotational movement of the gripper means.
