PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method which selects a motion vector among plural motion vectors that correspond to the same minimum value error function by comparing norms of motion vectors which are related to the minimum value of an evaluation function. SOLUTION: This device stores the coordinate of a motion vector most similarly corresponding to a selective reference at a prescribed point of time of search in an X minimum value register 1003 and a Y minimum value register 1004. On the other hand, it stores a corresponding norm that is calculated by a norm calculation circuit 1005 in a register 1006. A comparator 1007 compares an outputted norm with a stored norm. Next, an AND circuit 1010 compares an output from the comparator 1007 with a minimum value stored in a register 1008 which outputs to a comparator 109 that corresponds to the coincidence of an input signal, and when a value that exists in a cell input is strictly smaller than a stored intermediate minimum value, an OR circuit 1011 makes a load signal a working state. This makes it possible to satisfactorily select a motion vector when error functions are the same. |
