PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply fuel of either comparatively high pressure or of low pressure, and provide a fuel system which is comparatively simple and has a usable form. SOLUTION: A fuel system for use in supplying fuel to an injection nozzle 28 is disclosed. The system comprises a fuel pump 15, arranged to charge first and second accumulators 10, 11, and control valve means 29, 30 operable to select which of the first and second accumulators 10, 11 is used to supply fuel to the nozzle 28. The system further comprises valve means 24, interposed between the fuel pump 15 and the second accumulator 11, the valve means which are made operable so as to cause the fuel to flow from the fuel pump 15 to the second accumulator 11, when the fuel pressure inside the first accumulator 10 has attained a prescribed value. |
