PURPOSE: To improve fuel consumption by properly controlling a lock-up clutch operation in the case of running by a manual speed change mode. CONSTITUTION: In a manual speed change mode, a region of engaging a lock up clutch of a torque converter is respectively set relating to a 4-speed change shift, 3-speed change shift and a 2-speed change shift. By providing a lock up region in a region of intermediate car speed region with high/intermediate throttle openings and in a region of low car speed with a low throttle opening, the lock up clutch can be engaged even in the 2-speed change shift where the lock up clutch is not engaged in an automatic speed change mode, thus to enable fuel consumption to improve. |
