A control unit for vehicle-borne cranes comprises a number of levers (6) with the purpose of, according to need, activating operating means (15) which determine the fonctions of the crane, the unit being placeable along the one side of the chassis of a vehicle. The levers (6) are arranged in the region of one end of a carrier (8), whose opposite end is articulatedly connected (9) with a fixed installation part (10) and which means are comprised for the transmission of lever motions to the operating means (15), the carrier (8) being pivotable between a folded-in position and a folded-out position, in which the levers are distanced from the side of the vehicle.
