Process for the consolidation of non woven fibrous structure and machinery to implement the process

A system for consolidating fibrous non-woven webs is claimed. Loose fibres are deposited on a pierced surface conveyor running on rollers over a suction box with a crosswise slit connected to a suction source. A pierced cylinder with a blowing box mounted inside it is rotated above the conveyor and supplied with air from a compressor and heater with the hot air emerging from a slit. The system is adjusted to give high air velocities through the moving web which opens and consolidates the fibres and welds them together through melting and softening.
