Multiple-channel encoder with single-channel structure

The coder includes a channel selection device with a knob (B) which is connected to a coding wheel (C). The coding wheel has a detector (ER) which measures the angular position of the wheel and wheel rotation. The capacitive presence of a finger on a particular zone of the knob is detected. Data from the detector are associated with the capacitive touch detection information for channel selection in a three-channel coder. The touch detector consists of a fixed capacitive housing which is attached to the fixed structure of the sensor. An alternating voltage or HF pulsed signal is applied to the structure with the external housing formed with the knob. An electrical contact is formed with the housing when the user touches it.
