The invention relates to a moisture-absorbing (moisture- absorbent) bath mat which, in contrast to all conventional bath mats, is deliberately not provided with a rubber or latex underlayer. This makes optimal use of bilateral moisture-absorbing capacity. Moisture absorption is also intensified by opting for rapidly drying moisture-absorbing materials such as the viscose/rayon combination described. Owing to these properties, the invention adds an extra value feature, in contrast to a traditional bathroom mat. Whereas the traditional bathroom mat could be used only in the bathroom, the present invention now amounts to a MULTIFUNCTIONAL mat which is suitable for many purposes in many locations. The composition of the base materials is as follows: 80% VISCOSE/RAYON fibre combination - 20% VISCOSE/POLYESTER fibre combination. The combination VISCOSE/RAYON in turn is composed of +- 80% viscose fibres and 20% rayon fibres.
