PURPOSE: To obtain a readily handleable and safe composition for plastic lens, comprising a polymerizable monomer containing allyl group, an aliphatic organic peroxide, etc., having a remarkably low degree of risk and capable of easily producing hardly colored plastic lenses excellent in surface hardness, etc. CONSTITUTION: This composition for plastic lenses comprises (A) 100 pts. wt. one or more polymerizable monomers containing allyl group or a mixture of the one or more polymerizable monomers with one or more polymerizable monomers having a polymerizable functional group other than the allyl group, (B) 0.5-10 pts.wt. aliphatic organic peroxide having <=75 deg.C half-life temperature of 10hr [e.g 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(2-ethylhexylperoxy)hexane] and (C) an aliphatic organic peroxide having 80-100 deg.C half-life temperature of 10hr [e.g. 1,1-bis(t- hexylperoxy)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane]. Furthermore, diethylene glycol diallyl carbonate or an allyl ester oligomer of the formula is preferably contained in the component (A). |
