The present invention provides new and structurally diverse compositions for diagnostic imaging comprising compounds of the general formula: kyl, or C6-C10 aryl, where the alkyl or aryl group may be optionally substituted with one or more hydroxy, C1-C8 alkyl, C1-C8 hydroxyalkyl, C1-C8 alkoxy, C6-C10 aryl, C6-C10 hydroxyaryl, C6-C10 aryloxy, -CO2R2, -CONR3R4, or NR3R4; D is O, -O(CH2)2O-, -O(CH2)3O-, or NR5; E is O, -O(CH2)2O-, -O(CH2)3O- or NR6; F is O, -O(CH2)2O-, -O(CH2)3O- or NR7; R2-R7 are as defined within; g, h, i, j, k and m may be the same or different and are an integer from one to about six; X is -CO2H, -PO3H2, -SO3H or -CONHOH.
