PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an HIV protease inhibitor composition capable of effectively inhibiting an HIV-1 protease enzyme and removing or susbtantially reducing the viral cross-resistance found by use of an individual HIV-1 protease inhibitor. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition comprises 1, l-dimethyl [1S[1 R*,2S*(2S*,3R*)]]-[3-E[3-[[(1,1-dimethylethoxy) carbonyllamino]-2hydroxy 4-[4-[2-(4-morpholinyl)-2-oxo-ethoxy]phenyl]butyl]amino]-2 hydroxy-1-(phenylmethyl)propyl]carbamate represented by formula I or its pharmaceutically acceptable derivative, at least one second protease inhibitor compound selected from the group consisting of seven compounds represented by formulas II to V, etc., and their pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent and is capable of preventing or treating diseases caused by an HIV virus.
