Method for detecting colour differences in a web of material (1), comprising the following steps: (a) lighting the web of material (1); (b) producing a relative movement between the web of material (1) and detection means (S); (c) capturing light reflected by the web of material (1) by means of a series of sensors (si) arranged at least over the full width of the web of material (1); (d) evaluating signals emitted by the detection means (S) on the basis of measurement of differences in intensity. The invention also relates to an installation for carrying out such a method.
