<p>PURPOSE: To dispose plastic waste matter from a laboratory and the like in an environmentally friendly manner by incubating in aqueous medium in the presence of microorganisms over a period of time sufficient enough for at least a part of specified solid plastics to dissolve and/or heating in aqueous alkali medium. CONSTITUTION: It is composed of a plastic selected from a group consisting chiefly of polyester, polylactide, polylactone, polycarbonate and mixtures thereof and solid plastics mixed with biological and infectious substances are incubated in aqueous medium in the presence of microorganisms over a period of time sufficient enough at least to obtain a partial dissolution. If needed, after this treatment stage, sterilization of aqueous medium is performed by heating and/or irradiation. This additional treatment is required when the waste matter is decomposed by microorganisms. The sufficient time for a dissolution to take place is to be determined depending on a type of treatment to be done.</p> |
