PURPOSE:To constitute a device at a low cost and to improve both the carrying power of a magnetic developer and the quality of an image by using a two- component magnetic developer as the magnetic developer and setting the difference between a developing gap and a doctor gap in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:In this image forming method for rotating a developer carrying member in a state where the magnetic developer 5 is held on the surface to carry the developer 5 regulated in thickness by a doctor blade 6 to a developing region C and visualize an electrostatic latent image, the developer carrying member is a developing roll 2 composed of a cylindrical magnet having magnetic poles on the surface and the magnetic developer 5 is the two-component magnetic developer composed of toner and magnetic carriers. The difference Ds-Dg between the developing gas Ds between the image carrier 1 and the developing roll 2 and the doctor gap Dg between the developing roll 2 and the doctor blade 6 is set within the range of 0.1 + or - 0.1mm. It is preferable that the doctor gap Dg is set within the range of 0.1-0.4mm. |
