PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst whose exhaust gas purifying activity is enhanced and smoothly operated from a low temp. range under an oxygen excessive atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of metal selected from Ir, group IIIB elements and group IVB elements and Pt are supported on a metal active seed support matrix. By this constitution, exhaust gas purifying activity is developed from a low temp. region.
