A process for mfr. of an extrusion die comprises providing hard brass stock with 58-85 wt. % Cu and 15-42 wt. % Zn. The stock is machined to form a thick rigid die end dam with a sharp corner. This is then annealed to give a die body with at least one open end and an extrusion exit slot. The machined die end dam is then secured to the open end, so that the sharp corner is adjacent to one end of the exit slot.
