PURPOSE: To obtain the increase of the coercive force, rectangularity and production throughput of a magneto-optical recording medium of multiple layers of Co/Pt by using a seed layer consisting of amorphous zinc-tin oxide. CONSTITUTION: A substrate 10 is formed of polycarbonate and has the seed layer 11 formed of the zinc-tin-oxide. The seed layer 11 has various combinations of zinc, tin and oxygen. Multilayered recording elements 15 having two-layered structural bodies alternately formed with Pt layers 12 and Co layers 14 are deposited on the seed layer 11. The substrate 10 is generally transparent in order to irradiate the multilayered recording structures through the substrate with a laser or the light from other light sources. The Pt layers typically have thicknesses in a range of 0.4 to 2nm and the Co layers in a range of 0.2 to 0.8nm. The thickness of the seed layer is so selected as to be relatively small or large. A protective film layer 18 of a UV cured lacquer layer is directly formed on a material layer 22. The metallic layer 22 is formed of reflection materials, such as aluminum, gold, silver, copper and platinum and is directly arranged on a dielectric layer 20. |
