The visor (2) of the helmet (1) is articulated on two lateral plates (5) which slide in two opposite slides (3) on the inner lateral walls of the helmet. The lower end of each slide is level with the lower edge (1a) of the helmet. A stud (5A) on each plate engages in a window (1B) in the slide and locks the plate automatically in its position for use. The visor is removed by sliding the plates down manually. The visor is articulated on each plate by two rods (6,7), the upper rod (6) being joined to the plate by a spring (11).
