Rapidly crystallizing polyester compositions containing as nucleating agent a compound of general formula: wherein: Me is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; X is a group selected from -CH2-, -CO-, -CH2-CO-, -CH(CH3)-CO-; p is 0 or 1; Ar is a normal or condensed aromatic ring or Ar represents two or more aromatic nuclei linked either by a covalent bond or by an -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -SO-, -CO-, -CS-, -NH- group; R, R1, R2, the same or different from each other, represent H, a linear or branched C1-C6 alkyl radical, optionally substituted with halogen atoms or C1-C6 alkoxy groups; Y is H or CH3; m is 1 when Y is CH3 or is an integer of from 1 to 5 when Y is H; n is a number of from 1 to 500; Z is H, C1-C18 alkyl, benzyl, allyl, glycidyl, acetyl, benzoyl, -CO-NH-R3 or -CO-NH-R4-NCO group.
