PURPOSE:To provide a visual axis detecting apparatus having the reducing optical system to reduce the reflected image formed in an eye of an observer owing to a lighting means, and a two-dimentional image sensor to receive luminous flux of the reflected image, enabling pitches of a plural of pixels in two directions to be set regarded as the same to ensure the implementation of the visual axis detection. CONSTITUTION:In a single-lens reflex camera, the light emitted from an infrared light source 13 in the visual axis detecting system advances by way of a half mirror 12 to be collimated by a lens 11, and then is reflected by a mirror 11 to get into the finder light passage, and passes through the rear surface of an eyepiece 9 to irradiate an eyeball of an observer. The reflected light in an eye of an observer followes the reverse passage, as the light is reflected by a half mirror 12 to be received by a photoelectric converter 14 functioning as a two-dimentional sensor set to regard pitches of a plural of pixels in two directions as approximately the same. Then, the focus detection value at the corresponding measuring point in the direction of a vusual axis of an observer is calculated by a microprocessor with the input from the photoelectric converter 14, and a driving structure 4c is operated for focussing a objective lens 1. |
